Going Back In Time…

To the Renaissance!

This weekend, I went to the Southern California Renaissance Pleasure Faire. For those of you who are unfamiliar with them, Ren Faires-as they are popularly shortened-are places that recreate the Renaissance and Medieval time periods, although focusing heavily on the former. They have dancing, crafts you can learn, craftsmen you can watch, weapons demonstrations, jousts, arts, booths selling everything from musical instruments to garb to weapons to food, and games.

Additionally, you’ll find people that come dressed as almost anything, from time-traveling Doctors to da Vinci inspired flying men; most people at the faire have fun and appreciate creativity and artistry over obsessive compulsive authenticity. There were even some people in ornate make-up, dressed as fae, who wordlessly interacted with people and played with children.
